A Day In The Life Of A Table

After spending 5 years in a storage unit, I finally received my great, great grandmothers table Sunday afternoon. Yesterday, i decided to give it a little TLC.

Armed with a piece of steel wool and not much of a clue, I set to work on the legs.

Next was the table top

Five years of crud gone. A dirty cloth in it’s place.

The table was finished! Now to take it to it’s new home. Pride of place in my bedroom, as my sewing table!

  1. Fantastic job sweets!! Nanna Gunn would be so happy to see what you have done. Might want to hit the legs with some oil or something similat to guard against the rust coming back. Glad to see you put the table to such good use. May it server you well šŸ˜‰ XXXXX

    • Thanks Mum! I’m glad you like it, I was thinking the same thing re: oil or some sort of sealer to prevent it rusting so badly again. I might check out Bunnings this week, maybe get a steel brush or some sandpaper to get the last few bits off that the wool couldn’t get. I was worried it would be too big, but it’s perfect! I can cut on one side and sew on the other, without having to move the machine out the way! And when I want to do studying, there’s room for my laptop and all books/writing stuff!
